Just 17 km from the Algerian border, Tabarka is a charming fishing port that can accommodate large vessels and is especially renowned for lobster fishing and other crustaceans. The town is also famous for its red coral, which has been used in jewelry-making since ancient times.
Surrounded by the Rif Tell and Atlas Mountains, Tabarka enjoys a unique microclimate that gives it lush vegetation and intensely green landscapes, quite different from the rest of the country. Its crystal-clear waters are among the most sought-after in Tunisia for scuba diving.
One of the most striking natural features of the area is its famous “needles”: spectacular eroded rock formations rising nearly 25 meters above the sea, creating a dramatic coastal scenery.
Tabarka is also internationally known for its jazz festival, which every year attracts artists and visitors from around the world, filling the city with music and a vibrant atmosphere.
